I’m afraid I haven’t been able to write an article this week, but as you can see, I’ve been in Rome! So for this post, I thought I would show you some pictures from my trip; and to make it even more interesting, I have put a sampling of the filming locations from Roman Holiday side by side with my own photographs. As you can see, nothing’s really changed for the city of Rome; what was standing 2,000 years ago was standing 60 years ago, and still stands today.
Great pictures! I was in Rome earlier this year too, and I absolutely fell in love with it. Plus, when in Rome, I also couldn’t help noticing loads of tourists vendors selling Roman Holiday calendars, postcards etc. I think most people still associate Rome with Roman Holiday, it’s such a classic! As compared to modern Hollywood films set in Rome (e.g. When In Rome, To Rome with Love) which comes across as really cliche.
I’m glad you enjoyed the pictures!
And yes, I just can’t think of anyone who doesn’t know and love Roman Holiday. It really is a lovely film!
Excellent piece. Did you get to Cinecitta?
No, I didn’t have time to visit it! I guess though it’ll definitely be something to look forward to next time :) Thanks for your comment!
There is a reason why Rome is the eternal city !
Rome is such a beautiful setting – love your photographs. Roman Holiday is possibly my favourite romantic comedy and I’m glad to see you’re a fan too!
Thanks Natalie! And yes, Roman Holiday is a lovely film —it is definitely one of my favourites too :)
